This rescue operation was carried out in the camp located 17 kilometers north of the city of Tapachula, Chiapas state.


A federal judge ordered the arrest of 26 leaders of the group, among whom were Israelis, Canadians, Americans and Guatemalans.


Among the detainees there are two suspects of sexual crimes and human trafficking, who could face up to 20 years in prison.


One of the children rescued from the camp was 3 years old and was put on a flight to Israel.




Oaxaca.-Mexican authorities arrested members of the Lev Tahor Jewish sect in a raid after which a three-year-old boy was returned to his father who had fled the community, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday.


The raid occurred on Friday "after the Mexican police collected incriminating evidence against several people from the sect on suspicion of drug trafficking, rape and other crimes," the Israeli ministry said in a statement.




According to a report that was published in a Mexican newspaper on Tuesday, law enforcement authorities in Mexico carried out large raids, during which they arrested twenty members of the Jewish cult known as Lev Tahor.


The report stated that the operation was conducted in a Mexican migration control facility on the country's border with Guatemala, where the cult members were being kept.


According to The Jerusalem Post, in the aftermath of the raids, the families of the detained members of Lev Tahor organized a protest against the conditions in which their loved ones were being held in the facility.
